Short Range Radio (SRC)
SRC – Short range certificate
Effective from 1 January 2016 Category A, B, C and D vessels must be equipped with a VHF radio and the operator must hold a SRC certificate.
The VHF radio for these vessels must also have the DSC functions. (Digital Selective Calling)
The training for the Short Range Certificate is done by SAMSA accredited SRC training centres.
SASCA has eight accredited SRC training centres in the following areas:
- Cape Town
- Durban
- Gordon’s bay
- Knysna
- Polokwane
- Pretoria
- Sodwana Bay
- Vaal Triangle
